In light of Muhammad Ali passing on and seeing all of these posts/videos encouraging people not to let white media erase the fact that he was unapologetically black, I wanted to upload one of my fav moments of his. This is from a episodic documentary series called Eyes On The Prize. If you’re interested in the rest, the full episode is up on vimeo here. It’s a real good watch if you’re interested in how the Black Consciousness movement began and how a lot well known Black Moments and Black figures are linked together in ways that you never really hear about.

Muhammad Ali stops a man from committing suicide. Police negotiators and psychiatrists had tried for over two hours but the young man wasn’t budging. Ali stepped in, went to the window near the troubled man, and told him they were “brothers.” He talked him off the ledge. 1981.
